Advanced Medical Balloons drives innovation in MedTech – growth opportunities in a dynamic market
The European MedTech industry is experiencing a resurgence, with increased investment and financing opportunities indicating a promising year ahead. Many companies that struggled in previous years due to limited funding and stringent regulations are now seeing renewed investor interest. Among these is Advanced Medical Balloons (AMB) GmbH, which successfully raised funds from existing shareholders in 2024 and is now in discussions with large European investment funds.
Frank Gehres, CEO of AMB, highlights the growing demand for innovative solutions in critical care, positioning AMB’s hygh-tec® catheter system as a key player in addressing hospital cost pressures and patient care challenges. "There is an increasing appetite for innovative solutions in critical care, and AMB fits this profile very well," Gehres stated. The company’s technology enables sealed access to the colon, reducing medical complications such as perianal skin breakdown, infection spread, and restricted patient mobility. AMB continues to provide pharmacoeconomic evidence demonstrating that the hygh-tec® system significantly reduces healthcare costs by easing the burden on hospital staff.
Gehres also addressed the challenges posed by the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR), which has made compliance more demanding for med-tech companies. While many businesses struggle with these regulatory requirements, AMB has successfully navigated the MDR framework and is leveraging this compliance to expand its commercial presence. "Our marketed products are fully approved under MDR, and with that endorsement, we will be expanding our commercial footprint in the EMEA region," Gehres confirmed.
Despite the tougher regulatory landscape in Europe, many med-tech companies, including AMB, are positioning themselves for growth by adapting to these changes and meeting the evolving demands of investors and healthcare providers.
